So this is the cosplay I have been working on. I wish I had more in progress shots, but this is the current state of the costume.
I have wanted to cosplay The Kid from the video game Bastion for about a year, but I knew the challenge would be the armor. Thankfully, I have an awesome father who owns a myriad of tools and is super handy/crafty.
The hammer is reaalllly light since it is just foam we glued together and then wrapped in duct tape. The hammer is in no way near finished. I was testing the spray paint on the surface and since I am picky and don’t like how the seams are showing right now, I am going to try and figure out a smoother surface before adding the red part and the spikes.
The armor came from a giant plastic barrel that we cut out and then my dad used a Salamander heater to make it malleable enough to shape. Sand the pieces and then spray paint! Instant armor. The picture is missing one of the kneepads.
Also will see if I can get a smoother surface on the cog, but since it will be strapped to my back and partially wrapped in rope, I’m not so worried about the look of it. :3
Not pictured, the boots, which I have but need to add “metal” bands to.
I also have the bandana done (thanks to Laura) and I already have the wig. Still need belts to secure the armor.
Maybe posting this here will make me get my rear in gear. :P I want to get to done for GenCon since I obviously did not have it near ready for ACen.
